Illamasqua Imperfection Spring 2013
Hey Everyone!
I was reading up on some new beauty launches and was really blown away by Illmasqua's Spring 2013 collection. I love the little meaningful pun of the name and the really unique items that are being released in selection. First off, when I first read about this collection on several beauty blogs I thought the name was " Imperfection". It wasn't until I wanted to write this blog post when I noticed on the official website that the collection could also be called "I'm Perfection". I'm just so in love with how empowering this little play on words is to women, teaching them to love themselves for the way they are.
So this collection features 5 limited edition Speckled Nail Varnishes, 3 Powder Blusher Duos, a Blush Brush, a bright pink lipstick, a liquid eyeliner and a green (yes, I said green) lipgloss.
Remember to leave a comment down below how you think of this collection!
Speckled Nail Varnish ($23.02, 0.5 oz) (PPO $46.04)
Compare this to OPI ($8.50, 0.5oz) (PPO $17.00)
The pastel coloured speckled nail polish seems to be all the rage for the Spring 2013 season. I've been seeing similar polishes from Deborah Lippman, Hard Candy and my personal favourite Etude House.

and
MAC Pro Longwear Lipgloss ($19.50, 0.06oz) (PPO $325.00)
I really applaud Illamasqua in really stepping outside the "norm" and creating an opaque grass green lip gloss. From what I have seen in companies such as MAC, they attempt to come up with crazy coloured lipglosses but sheer them out the average consumers wouldn't be afraid to buy it.

5 Makeup Products That Cost More Than GOLD
Hey Everyone!
Over the course of the past month that I have started this blog, the most eye opening thing I have learnt during this process are that some prices of make up products cost more than gold! Even though I only have 8 brands in the Price Per Ounce Database right now, I've noticed that certain products such as brow pencils, eyeliners and lipliners have similar to higher prices than precious metals!
Current Price of Gold on February 26, 2013: $1610.40/ ounce (courtesy of Goldprice.org)

New Product! NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer
Hey Everyone!
NARS just released a new concealer, the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer ($28) (Price Per Ounce: $127.27). It is a liquid concealer with a doe foot applicator. What I noticed is that the shades that are available in this line are the same as their original NARS concealer ($23) (Price Per Ounce: $328.57). Even though the two concealers are a different texture, comparing the price per ounce, the new Radiant Creamy Concealer seems to be the better deal!
If you head over to the NARS website, it would be a great time to order this concealer since they offer free shipping on any order right now! Also if you sign up for Ebates, you can get 4.0% cashback on your purchase! (Love finding great deals for you guys)!
If you are interested to see what the Price Per Ounce for other concealers are... check out the concealer beauty database!

First Impressions: Make Up For Ever Cosmetics
Hey Everyone!
As my first round of midterms come to an end, I immediately added new products into the Price Per Ounce Database. I feel like I've neglected this blog for long enough throughout this week and I feel terrible for not keeping the " update daily" promise!
Make Up For Ever has been a brand where I found to have very sleek and professional packaging, as well as having one of the most vibrant colour ranges. I remember walking through Sephora and had to get a second look at the hot pink eye shadow!
Like always, I wanted to share some products that stood out to me from this line when adding Make Up For Ever into the database.
Make Up For Ever UV Primer SPF 50/PA+++ (Price Per Ounce: $32)
I've always wanted to try this primer because of its high SPF, but thought its $32 retail price was a little too steep. At $32/ ounce, this primer is actually more affordable than Benefit's The POREfessional ($30) at $40/ ounce and Urban Decay's Complexion Primer Potion ($31) at $32.98/ ounce.
Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer (Price Per Ounce: $64)
This concealer has been raved about in the online community. Considering that this concealer has more than 2X more product than any other liquid concealer in the beauty database, the steep $32 price tag is justified. To give you some comparisons, MAC's Select Moisturecover Concealer ($18) at $105.88/ ounce and Lancome's Effacenes Concealer ($30) is $200/ ounce.

My Battle With Acne
Hello Everyone!
Hope your having a good day, I am definitely feeling the pressure as midterms are creeping up. But right now, I'm just taking a little break between studying and wanted to share something very close to my heart.
This post is going to be a little different than my typical post but I wanted to share with my experience with acne with you guys. To give you an idea of my skin, I have acne prone, oily, extremely sensitive and dehydrated skin (phew what a mouthful!). Growing up, it had always been so frustrating to have people telling me to take better care of my skin. Since I had cystic acne throughout high school while all of my close friends had perfectly smooth skin, I struggled with confidence. I also hated when people just assume that since I have acne, I need to wash my face more or eat less junk food. So over the years I have tried numerous products, medication and basically anything I could get my hands on to "cure" my acne.
Fast forward to the present, I have made peace with my skin. It is by no means perfect, I still have facialists and family friends throwing advice at me every now and then but I am in a happy place. I have learnt to control my cystic acne, reduce my scarring and learnt how to apply my makeup naturally to cover up my acne without masking my face.
I can talk on and on about this topic. So I'm going to try and keep this post short. The take home message for this post was to motivate anyone who is struggling with acne. I want you guys to also come to peace with your skin and to stay strong throughout this journey. Also if you are curious to learn more about more about my battle leave a comment down below!

Recently Added: Illamasqua Cosmetics
Hey Everyone!
Yesterday I added Illamasqua cosmetics into the Beauty Database. I wanted to type up a summary post last night to highlight some key features I found interesting with this collection, but I'm starting to get overwhelmed with school work!
The first item I want to talk about is something I always longed for from Illamasqua. Their Liquid Metal Cream Eye Shadows always stood out to me because they are such a rich, intense formula that swatches very opaque. Unfortunately they are one of the most expensive cream eye shadows in the database at the moment at $520/ounce despite a reasonable price tag of $26. To give you a better idea of how expensive this is, a MAC Paint Pot ($18.50) is $108.82/ounce and a Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream ($23.00) is $109.52/ ounce.
Next, Illamasqua's Eye Liner Cake ($24.00) is something that stood out to me. It is something that very little brands offer. It is essentially a pressed powder eyeliner where you wet an angle brush and creates almost a liquid liner consistency. Some comparable eyeliners are MAC Liquid Eye Liner ($18.50) at $220.24/ ounce and Urban Decay's 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner ($19.00) at $327.59/ ounce. Therefore at $160/ ounce, Illamasqua's Eye Liner Cake is definitely not too expensive to play around with compared to liquid eye liners from similar high end brands.
Let me know in the comments below what you think about Illamasqua! I'd love to read about it!
