My Battle With Acne

Hello Everyone!

Hope your having a good day, I am definitely feeling the pressure as midterms are creeping up. But right now, I'm just taking a little break between studying and wanted to share something very close to my heart.

This post is going to be a little different than my typical post but I wanted to share with my experience with acne with you guys. To give you an idea of my skin, I have acne prone, oily, extremely sensitive and dehydrated skin (phew what a mouthful!). Growing up, it had always been so frustrating to have people telling me to take better care of my skin. Since I had cystic acne throughout high school while all of my close friends had perfectly smooth skin, I struggled with confidence. I also hated when people just assume that since I have acne, I need to wash my face more or eat less junk food. So over the years I have tried numerous products, medication and basically anything I could get my hands on to "cure" my acne.

Fast forward to the present, I have made peace with my skin. It is by no means perfect, I still have facialists and family friends throwing advice at me every now and then but I am in a happy place. I have learnt to control my cystic acne, reduce my scarring and learnt how to apply my makeup naturally to cover up my acne without masking my face.

Me With Makeup
I can talk on and on about this topic. So I'm going to try and keep this post short. The take home message for this post was to motivate anyone who is struggling with acne. I want you guys to also come to peace with your skin and to stay strong throughout this journey. Also if you are curious to learn more about more about my battle leave a comment down below!

  1. Vivian - I commend you on coming to peace with your skin. I know exactly how you feel. As a teenager going through puberty I never had breakouts or skin issues but now for the past few years I have been struggling with adult acne. It's horrible! The past few months have been my worse - especially around my jawline and neck {of all places}. I did the mistake of trying to apply topical medicine on my acne thinking that it would help my skin get rid of it quicker, that was a huge mistake! My skin was so angry, I broke out even more! I have however learned to control it and my lower face and neck are looking almost as smooth as a baby behind!

I didn't mean to rant, but I do understand where you are coming from and how you feel. You are not alone and like I stated at the beginning, I do commend you for coming to terms with having acne. You're a beautiful girl and kudos to you!! ;)

  2. Aw thank you for the sweet comment! Glad to hear that you found what works for you! Skin is something that is so different form person to person, there isn't a miracle cure that could work for everyone. I love how you have so much to "rant" about, because I think its a topic I can rant about all day too =D
